Virtual Chess Class

Instructor: Jesse Dioquino
4 weeks
We are proud to present our virtual chess classes where we will continue to foster patience, strategic planning and critical thinking skills. Our time will be spent on principles of the opening, tactical elements of the middle game, and basic endgame situations. Although we are unable to see the enthusiastic/smiling faces of our students live, the plus is that we have enhanced our teachings through visual aids (on the computer) that would not be available otherwise (live).
Our lessons are fun/interactive, include digital versions of our exclusive workbooks, free entry into our weekly online chess tournament, and cater to all levels. Underlying, we also convey the belief that are decisions result in consequences. We will also create a private club room (on chess.com-a free acct. is needed) where kids can practice throughout the week and challenge each other after the lesson.

Holly Hoppin' Nature Session 1: July 6-July 24

Instructor: Holly Salamun
3 weeks
Everyday will be a new and exciting experience! We will venture around the lake exploring the magical world around us with our active imaginations running wild & free!

Children need to experience nature and allow them to enjoy the outdoor adventures, explore their limits, take measured risks and learn new skills while making friends along the way.

“It takes time-loose, unstructured dreamtime-to experience nature in a meaningful way. Such time has become a scarce resource, not because we intend it to shrink, but because time is consumed by multiple, invisible forces; because our culture currently places so little value on natural play.” -Last Child in the Woods.

Kids Club at Ross

Instructor: Ronda Beren, Mallory Beren
Kids Club is an on-site after school program offered at Ross School for grades K-5. Following the Ross School calendar, care begins on all regular school days at "dismissal time."

Kindergarteners are met each day at their classroom and walked to our room.
Kids Club works seamlessly with other Ross Rec enrichment classes - we escort your child to and from other classes occurring on the same day!

Each day at Kids Club includes:
Indoor & Outdoor (or Gym!) Play
A Healthy Snack
Art / Craft / Building / Creating / Science
Time for Homework if needed

Ronda Beren has more than 20 years of experience working with children, and loves playing games.

Mallory Beren has been working with Ross Recreation for the past 3 years. She is creative and fun, and the kids love her!

Together, the two strive to create a fun and warm environment for kids to play, learn, and grow.
